Blu ray adds a lot to this great show
Summer series are often overlooked but luckily I found ROOKIE BLUE last summer. I was pulled in by Gregory Smith who I had loved on EVERWOOD and what I found was a cop show very unique, addicting and very well made. The show follows 5 rookies right from the very first day they go on the job. The show is perfectly cast. Characters are fleshed out fully and you get to know them and care for them very quickly. We follow the rookies as they learn the job step by step led by their training officers. The detectives in the department are also given full life here. This show is a very realistic look at the lives of newbie rookies.
All dramas attempt that perfect blend of drama, relationships and slight comedy. Few succeed but ROOKIE BLUE does it very succesfully. fantastic summer entertainment!!!
Rookie Blue had me hooked from the very first episode. I love the acting and the storylines. Don't write this off as your average cop show cos it really isn't. It marries the perfect combination of drama & comedy, with a little romance thrown in for good measure. Missy Peregrym (Reaper) is brilliant as Andy Mcnally the main character & her TO (training officer) Sam Swarek played by a relative unknown- Ben Bass is just as good, they have great chemistry together & not to go all girly but he's quite easy on the eyes ;)
The stories are engaging & heartfelt, the rest of the ensemble cast all play strong characters, I absolutely love this show it gets very funny, also emotional, it doesn't glamourise being a police officer at all, it tells it like it is.
It's not difficult to see why after three...
